Where do I begin?

Life has changed and you are considering a move from your home to a smaller place, in with family, or maybe into an independent- or assisted-living residence. This can be a great adventure or an overwhelming task, or maybe a bit of both. There is a lot of work to do and a lot of emotions to contend with along the way.

RubyLife Seniors knows firsthand just how big a task this is, but we also know how happy you are going to be when you can put your feet up in your new home, make some new friends and enjoy all the services.

We like to start by getting together and having a talk, understanding where you’re at, where you are going and, most of all, getting to know you. We’ll do that for free.

Your new home

If you have a destination picked out, we start with the end in mind -- what will fit in the new space, and how can we make it home?

Most independent and assisted-living residences provide floor plans of each type of suite, typically Studio, One-Bedroom, or Two-Bedroom units.

With a floor plan, we can figure out which of your major furniture pieces, collectibles and personal treasures are going to fit.

Doing the work upfront saves a lot of time, money and disappointment when the movers arrive.

You might even decide to purchase new pieces that fit your new home better.

Your possessions

  • make a list of all your posessions

  • categorize everything according to how important it is to you

  • what can be given to family and friends

  • what can be donated or discarded

  • what to store while you decide

  • which items you simply cannot
    live without

Getting to what's important

Probably the hardest part of the transition to a smaller home is the selection of which items come with you and which do not. Often with a lifetime of memories built into your things, the editing process can be very challenging and a very emotional experience.

We bring the necessary blend of compassion, practicality and an expert eye to take as much of the burden off of you as possible.

We will bring you a structured and organized approach to prioritizing your belongings and finding all the right homes for everything. We will help you:

Organize

Creating order in a smaller space

Now that you've worked through the hardest part in editing your belongings, packed up and moved in, we well address the next challenge -- organizing a small space. We all know what it is like spending an hour searching for a favorite scarf, sweater, kitchen tool, book, file, or even your car keys and wallet.

Living well in a small space is a real challenge. Storage space is at a premium and requires careful preparation. The difference between clutter and an elegantly appointed home with layers of personal treasures is organization. Getting to know how you like to live, what's important and how you like to work in the home helps us tailor your organization to your needs.

We bring all the organizational tools to your home, such as bins, racks & hooks, dividers, kitchen organizers and space-multipliers, so everything has a place.

Modern electronics are notorious for creating clutter. If you want, we can set up your internet and home wireless, organize your electronics, chargers and wiring, as well as hang your TVs. We can even re-program your remote.

Thrive

Finishing touches

Time to enjoy all the fruits of your labour -- you have found the right place to move, sorted all your possessions, re-homed, donated, packed up, moved and organized.

With all the work and the stress of the move, it's easy to stop short of the finish line and want to take a breath. Please do, but we think that putting the finishing touches on your new home can make all the difference in how you feel.

We'll help you arrange furniture until you're happy, layer accessories, hang your family photos and artwork, place your treasures. We'll even help you organize a house-warming party to welcome friends and family.

It's time to enjoy your new home, surrounded by your most important treasures, perfectly organized and pleasingly put together!
